As children, we imagine life as an adult and think about and asked, what we want to be when we grow up. We are influenced by our family and friends and look to them for encouragement. We are also influenced by the movie heroes, sports stars, musicians and other public figures along with a long list of superheroes. As we mature, we start to narrow down the list of choices based on our desires, abilities, and life goals. We continue seeking guidance from our family, friends, teachers and other trusted individuals in our lives. And then we reach the point where we finally make the decision on the question that has nagged us our entire childhood, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. It was not an easy decision due to the long list of choices. Some become doctors, lawyers, law enforcement officers, welders, mechanics, nurses, etc. Some serve proudly in the military and make a career of it.
Whatever the choice, it was ours and we must own it. If the choice was good, we should pat ourselves on the back and be proud of our accomplishments. On the other hand, no pointing fingers if the choice was bad unless we are looking in a mirror. The same can be said for all of the choices we make in life, if we play stupid games, we win stupid prizes. And remember, there is no we in you or me.
