February is halfway over and the winter weather has been crazy at best. We have had sunshine and warm, spring-like temperatures, normal cold temperatures, rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow, all in the same day! That, in addition to it getting dark way too early, can make for a depressing time, for sure. Most of us long for Spring and have a true understanding that Spring Fever really exists. We long for longer and warmer days when the flowers spring forth from the ground, the trees sprout fresh green leaves, and the birds return singing from their winter retreat. We long for the smell of fresh-cut grass, fresh blooming flowers, and soft spring rain. We want to be outside in the sunshine and breathe in the fresh spring air. All these things revive us in a way nothing else can.
Whatever the reason, I think we can all agree, we just don’t like being cooped up inside all the time. Yes, we can dress accordingly and have the freedom to venture out and brave the elements if we so choose, but most don’t really want to do that unless they have to. Thus, we remain confined inside where it is warm and cozy and we count down the days until winter is over and we will be free from our confinement. Sort of like being in jail but without the body cavity searches, orange suits, rubber shoes, court dates, lawyers, fees, concrete beds, uninvited roommates, jail food, etc. So, hang in there, it could always be worse, and together, we got this!
