How to Become a Deputy Sheriff

Minimum qualifications required for the entry level position: be between the ages of 18 and 45; a high school diploma or GED; pass all three aspects of the physical fitness test; pass the written examination (a 70 is considered passing); and undergo a complete background investigation.  

Entry level Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff beginning salary range is $48,870.00 to $50,670.00.  The job duties of a Deputy Sheriff are, but not limited to, road patrol, investigations, court security, school resource officer, home confinement, K9 Officer, and swat.
