On 09-10-2017 Sgt. White and Dep. J.A. Redden of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office responded to McAlpin Road on a disturbance call. The caller stated that William Wampler was there intoxicated and trying to fight with everyone. As Sgt. White got near the residence Wampler fled on a ATV almost striking Sgt. White’s cruiser. Shortly afterward Sgt. White and Dep. Redden located Wampler in Sophia riding the ATV on Main Street. Redden as he was taken into custody. Wampler was charged with unlawful assault on a police officer, fleeing while DUI, 2nd offense DUI and driving on a suspended license.
