On 11-19-2015 at approximately 6:45AM on Hinton Road in the area of the Pluto Road intersection Jacquelyn Sample, 36 of Virginia was struck by a vehicle. It appears that Ms. Sample was walking in the middle of the roadway at the time she was struck. The driver of the vehicle was a nurse and immediately began life saving measures until first responders arrived. Unfortunately Ms. Sample was pronounced dead on arrival at BARH.
Based on the investigation as well as witness statements it appears that the driver did nothing wrong and the accident was unavoidable for the driver. No criminal charges are expected against the driver. This incident remains under investigation by Deputy R. S. Queen of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.
