On 12-15-2017 an incident of animal cruelty was brought to the attention of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. A male subject was observed by a citizen abusing a dog. The dog was kicked, drug by its neck, picked up and thrown to the ground and drug some more before it was hooked to a chain. The incident was captured on video and the video was provided to the Sheriff’s Office. The male subject was identified as Jerry Hommey III.
After investigating, a warrant was obtained charging Hommey with animal cruelty. It was also discovered Hommey had other warrants on file for various crimes. Sgt. R.L. Bircham arrested Hommey and served the warrants. Raleigh County Animal Control took custody of the dog for safe keeping.
