On 12-22-2017 approximately 0330am the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a shooting on Circle Drive in Dry Creek. The 911 caller said that a female had been shot and was outside of the residence. Upon arrival deputies discovered that an altercation had taken place between 4 adults inside the residence resulting in multiple shots being fired by one subject. One person, Samantha Burnside, was struck in the torso by one fired round. Deputies and EMS arrived on scene and Burnside was transported and later flown to Charleston for treatment. The person responsible for the shooting, Jerry James Dickens, was taken to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Carolyn Asbury was arrested at the scene on charges not dealing with the actual shooting incident but over trying to bite and hit deputies while they were investigating the shooting. The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed over the shooting at this time.
