On 2/02/2019 Deputy J.E. Stover and Deputy F.K. Myers were dispatched to a welfare check call in the parking lot of the MacArthur Walmart. Myers discovered Richard Alan Spencer, 54, of Midway slumped over in the vehicle in the parking lot. They observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Patrolman S.A. Lilly with the Beckley Police Department responded with his K-9 Gabo. The K-9 alerted the the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 31 grams of Methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $6,200.

Two loaded handguns were also discovered in the vehicle. Mr. Spencer has been convicted of felony crimes of violence against a person, making him a prohibited possessor of firearms. He was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and being a Prohibited Possessor of a Firearm.
