On February 11, 2016 the Beckley-Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit executed multiple search warrants pursuant to a lengthy narcotics investigation. The first search warrant was executed at a residence on Selden Street in Crab Orchard, near Crab Orchard Elementary School. Officers seized a sizable amount of cash and arrested Demetrius Harmon, age 30 and Erica Gibson, age 31. Both Harmon and Gibson are from Columbus, Ohio and are charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Fleeing.

The second search warrant was executed later that day at the Baymont Inn in the area of Harper Road. As a result of that search warrant officers seized several grams of Heroin equating into approximately 200 “street doses” and arrested Khalil Shorts, age 22 from Detroit and Akela Robinson, age 19, of Atlanta. Both individuals are charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.

The Beckley-Raleigh County Drug Unit is a Federal Drug Task Force comprised of officers from the Beckley Police Department, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and West Virginia State Police.
