The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office and Beckley Police Department have received several complaints of fraudulent schemes. The complaint is that a subject claiming to be Lt. James Perry with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is calling citizens to solicit money for the serving of civil papers. The Sheriff’s Office does not call anyone for money to serve any type of papers nor does the Sheriff’s Office employ anyone by the name James Perry. If you receive a call from anyone claiming to be with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office and they are soliciting money please do not give them any money or information of any kind. If you have any doubt whether you were legitimately contacted by an official deputy you can call the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office at 304-255-9300 for confirmation.
