The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two vehicle crash that caused the death of one person and has critically injured another. On 09-11-2017 a Chevrolet SUV carrying two occupants was traveling West on WV RT 3 in the area of Metalton which is close to Eccles. A Chevrolet truck carrying one occupant was traveling East on WV RT 3. Evidence at the scene shows that the driver of the eastbound truck crossed the center line and struck the westbound SUV. The driver of the SUV, a 73 year old Wyoming County resident, was pronounced dead on the scene. The passenger of the SUV was flown to Charleston and remains in critical condition. The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries. This incident remains under investigation. Names have been withheld in order to make sure all family has been notified. There have been no criminal charges filed at this time.
