The RCSO would like to announce some statistics from the past year for our dual purpose K-9 units. A dual purpose K-9 is a drug/apprehension dog which the RCSO currently has three of. Our dual purpose K-9 units consist of Sgt. B.D. Stump and his K-9 Clutch, Dep. C.B. Bloxton and his K-9 Leo and Dep. J.A. Redden and his K-9 Cody. From August 2018 to August 2019 these three units were deployed a total of 384 times and are credited with 77 suspect apprehensions and seized a total of $435,000.00 worth of illegal drugs. Those drugs include 62 grams of cocaine, 250 grams of methamphetamine, 577 grams of marijuana and 1899 grams of heroin. Other drugs seized were various pills, suboxone and fentanyl. The K-9 units also seized $42,963.00 of US currency from illicit drug sales and 30 firearms.
